It was 1994 when I as a 12-year-old, who was bored by the normal radio program, asked the car mechanics in my street for some music. What I received was a cassette tape with the L.A. Beats “West Coast Street Funk” LP and the “New York vs. L.A. Beats” LP on it. That was my first contact with Hip Hop. I was infected by mixing and scratching. I did not know how old that sound was. But I knew it would influence me. Soon after that I got myself Harzfein 1 on tape and got even closer to Electro that way. Turntables and a mixer were purchased by my wage as an apprentice and I began to understand the turntables as an instrument. Impressed by the great talent of masters like QBert, MixMaster Mike, Shortkut, Rafik and Kid Fresh and many more I set my main focus set on mixing and scratching.
